The story behind the practice

I lost my dad young, to a rare and aggressive form of dementia called frontotemporal dementia. FTD is not the dementia most people picture. It tends to strike decades earlier than Alzheimer's — often between 45 and 65 — and it frequently comes for personality, behavior, judgment, and language before it ever touches memory. Because of that, it is regularly mistaken for burnout, a midlife crisis, or a psychiatric illness. Families often spend years chasing an answer.

By the time we had a name for what was happening, there was nothing left to do but watch. That experience reshaped how I think about medicine. I had spent my career in emergency medicine, urgent care, family medicine, and psychiatry — all of it downstream, all of it reactive. We are very good at responding to disease once it announces itself. We are far less organized about the twenty years before that, when the signal is still quiet and still changeable.

Thrive Longevity is the practice my husband Cameron and I built out of that. We are honest about what prevention can and cannot promise — there is still no cure for FTD, and we don't sell one. What we can do is measure early, measure thoroughly, act on what we find, and keep measuring. Cognitive, metabolic, cardiovascular, and hormonal health are trackable long before they become a diagnosis. Most people are simply never offered that level of testing, and when they are, it is priced as a luxury.

Testing

We test far deeper than a standard physical

A typical annual physical runs a handful of screening labs. Our baseline evaluates 100+ biomarkers — metabolic health, full hormone panels, inflammatory markers, advanced cardiovascular risk, nutrient status, and longevity markers. Higher tiers add biological-age testing, validated neurocognitive testing, and comprehensive genetic sequencing.

Interpretation

We read against optimal, not “not yet abnormal”

Standard reference ranges are built to catch disease. We read results against optimal ranges and against your own trend over time, which is where early drift shows up — years before a value crosses into abnormal.

Iteration

Plans are fluid, not printed once and filed

Every patient leaves with a personalized plan spanning nutrition, movement, sleep, supplementation, and — when clinically appropriate — prescription therapy including hormone optimization, peptide protocols, and weight-loss medication. Labs repeat on a defined cadence, typically about every three months, and the plan is rewritten against the new data.

Access

Real access, without a monthly membership fee

Concierge medicine in this market commonly starts at $3,000–$5,000 a year and recurs monthly. Thrive programs are billed annually, with no monthly membership fee, starting at $995 — each including direct provider messaging through a secure patient portal. Payment plans are available if paying all at once isn’t feasible.

Where we practice

Arizona and Texas

Care is delivered primarily by telemedicine, which is what makes this depth of testing and follow-up practical across two states. Arizona patients also have the option of in-person visits at our clinic in the Phoenix area.

Lab draws are handled locally through national lab partners.
